Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes the collection, use, and disclosure of information employers provide to the Iowa Department of Human Services on the employers’ Web site.  Changes to the Privacy Policy become effective 30 days after we post the changes on the employers’ Web site.



We” or “us” refer to the Iowa Department of Human Services.

“You” or “yours” refer to an employer or an employee whom the employer has authorized to use the employers’ Web site.

“Your information” refers to information you provide to or through the employer's Web site. 


The employers’ Web site uses VeriSign Site Server Certificates with 128-bit encryption.  You can view the server certificate by clicking on the lock symbol in the lower right-hand corner of your Internet browser window.  We store personally identifiable information on a database server that is not connected to the Internet.  Communication between your browser (e.g. Internet Explorer) and our server that involves confidential data uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology. 



Information we record or obtain is confidential and its disclosure is controlled by state and federal statutes or by agreement.



If you choose to use a service offered by the employers’ Web site, you must enter online the information we need to provide the service.   We share the information with our staff, including information technology support staff, who need the information to provide the Web site service you choose and to create internal departmental reports about Web site usage.  Some internal reports contain personally identifiable information, but some are only statistical summaries. 


We may disclose information you provide with those outside the Department, as required by law or agreement.  For example:

·        If you report new hires, we forward that information to a national child support database for new hires, as required by federal law.

·        To complete your online payment of withheld child support, we share your information, as necessary, with the financial institution you’ve identified.

·        Your employees, whom you have authorized to enter information on the Web site on your behalf, can view the information.


If you choose to participate in an online survey, the information we collect is used to analyze site usage and to improve the employers’ Web site. 


We may use or disclose your information in any investigation, legal action, or circumstance where we determine disclosure is necessary. 

If you send us an email from our Web site, we may collect the contents of your email message along with your return email address.  We use the collected information to respond directly to you, address the issues you identify in your email, or to improve the employers’ Web site. Some written communications may be subject to public access.



We do not knowingly solicit or collect information from minors on this Web site.

The Iowa Fair Information Practices Act, section 22.11 of the Code of Iowa, recognizes many concerns people have with regard to public records that include information about them, including the right to correct inaccurate information.  You can view information you enter on the employers’ Web site. From the Main Menu, scroll down to the Administration section.  Click on Company Information.  If you are not able to correct  information at the Web site on your own, contact our customer service center at (877) 274-2580 (toll-free) Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Central Time, excluding state holidays, or email 


Web sites linked through the employers’ Web site may have privacy practices that are not subject to Chapter 22 of the Iowa Code or the Iowa and federal statutes that protect the confidentiality of the information we collect.  If you visit linked web sites, you may want to read their privacy statements and be cautious about providing personally identifiable information.
